The production of potatoes has come a long way. When we first started growing and packaging in 1928, the potatoes were hand picked and put into baskets, then loaded into 100 pound burlap bags and hauled by flatbed trucks to large underground storage cellars. For 4 generations, the Bjorneby family has been constantly updating and improving to produce the highest quality potatoes possible. Times have certainly changed since we first started out. Today our harvester loads six rows at a time, and fills a truck capable of hauling 40,000 pounds. The truck then takes them to our storage site, where they are graded, and put in storage. The storage is equipped with computer controlled venting and temperature monitoring systems.
