As the 2010 growing season winds down, we at LONE WOLF FARMS, would like to wish all our friends and family a Happy Holiday season. 2010 was a very interesting year here in the Red River Valley. We started out the planting season here in mid April, with sugarbeets and wheat being planted. The potatoes and soybeans were planted in mid May. We were blasted with a 4 inch rain right after potato planting, which caused stand reductions due to drown out.

Summer brought very nice growing conditions. All the crops enjoyed the warm temps and timely rains. Crop harvest started in August, with wheat combining. The wheat crop was very nice, with big yields, and good quality. Potato harvest right after Labor Day. Yields were down, but this was expected due to drown out earlier in the season. Color and quality on the potato were very nice. Soybean harvest started out in Sept. with very nice yields and excellent quality, which is important for seed quality. The final crop to harvest was sugarbeets. We achieved record high yields this year, which was amazing considering the amount of rain that we received earlier in the year. All in all 2010 was a very good crop production year.

We were able to finish up a major facelift on our potato packaging facility this summer. The inside of the plant was pressure washed and painted. We installed new wall protectors and brightened up the lighting in the plant. The outside of the building also received new steel siding and new windows, which greatly improved the insulation and looks of the building.

On the personal side, we would like to wish Ernie Misialek, a 63 year employee of the Bjorneby family, a great retirement. Ernie started working with us after he finished high school. He started out with O.C.Bjorneby in 1947. He has since worked With Dean, Keith, and Chris and Josh Bjorneby. He liked to joke that he had 4 generations of bosses! We would also like to welcome Tyler Joshua Bjorneby to the family. Tyler was born to Josh and Patti Bjorneby on 11/13/2010. Hopefully someday he will continue the family tradition of our family.
